Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a form of holistic health care that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural healing modalities.

Our approach

Naturopathic doctors provide whole-person care using various strategies, including nutrition, herbal medicine, dietary supplements, lifestyle modification, and basic counselling to prevent disease, treat illness, and optimize health. We are trained in the assessment and diagnosis of illness, including blood work interpretation. Naturopathic medicine integrates well with other forms of medicine, offering a collaborative approach to patient care rather than an either-or proposition.

Our training

In Canada, education includes an undergraduate degree, completion of a 4-year naturopathic medical program, and passing licensing examinations. Dr. Ellen Conte ND graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, is registered with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, and is a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors. She has obtained status as a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology.

Our value

With the increased time naturopathic doctors can devote to patient visits, our patient-centered and holistic view of health, and knowledge of both evidence-based modern medicine and traditional and lifestyle approaches, naturopathic doctors are well suited to support the complex health challenges facing many Canadians.
